Thodarpaham Jaffna
By 2023, with financial support from Stichting Een Helpende Hand (SEHH), Wilde Ganzen and Havonos solar panels were installed at 3 locations, Thodarpaham, Jaffna (OMI headquarters), OBTEC in Kilinochchi and YEC solar.
As a result, the sites are no longer, or less, dependent on the unreliable electricity grid. Indeed, the network is sometimes down for 12 hours or more, with dire consequences.
In Thodarpaham, not only the OMI organisation benefits from the solar panels. More advanced students, who also take computer lessons at this location – laptops provided by our partner Rockids – benefit greatly.
